Another discussion thread  glasses2 Please dont go offtopic.

Many of us move out of India due to higher studies or jobs or even marriages and settle abroad. What do you feel about returning back to India, permanently ? On the first hand do you think there is any need to go abroad on the first place since now India itself has come up with excellent education system and even due to MNCs, good jobs are there in India. What are the reasons you think make people decide not to return to India at all and settle abroad permanently ?

Please give your views..also you raise your own questions here.

Have fun Usual Smile

Nice topic.

Even though we have best education system and many MNCs now in India, we still find it an uphill task to get admission in good educational institutions and get jobs easily according to one's merit. I would definitely want to go back and settle in India permanently, but not yet. I am so used to an organised and hassle free lifestyle. Maybe that is why i wont be able to go back at this point in my life. My indian education has been my asset and i have enjoyed a very cherished professional life here. :D

Ideally, for me, I want to stay 6 months here and 6 months in india.   glasses2

I think some people like to stay abroad because they want to be free of everyday joint family problems!!:P:D

Also some don't have anyone left back home! So they say no point in going back!

Some are so used to a life abroad they can't stand going back!!:P:D

About me!! I'd love to go back!!!!!

Interesting ….  :D

I have been living in New York for last 12 years, and have been in touch with many Indian. Every now & then, this topic sneaks-in in our get together.

Believe it or not, majority of Indians living abroad love India, her people, culture, and do dream that one day they will return back to India. However that remains a dream. Few have taken any steps to fulfill that dream. Majority is waiting for the right moment and that right moment never really comes. Out of 30 Indian students that were in college during my MBA days, only two went back.

I think, each and every individual looks at this issue with different angle and each have their own reason or combination of reasons. In my opinion we can categorize reasons in following groups:

1) Income - For same effort, income is better
2) Career - Job satisfaction and opportunity
3) Family - Many have all (or most) of the family members settled outside India.
4) Quality of life - Daily necessities, corruption, population etc.

I guess I fall in reason 2 & 3. And, like many said, I also do want to go back and settle in India, but just don’t know WHEN.

Thank You Rajbir, Palkhi, NY and Sam for the feedback.

I agree, that the thing that makes many people decide to move out or stay abroad is the lack of opportunities and proper working conditions. Hassle free and organized lifestyle is another major thing that is nowhere in India.

I am not sure who came up with these numbers. These numbers have been traveling as an email in Indian community for last 6-7 years without any real data or link to backup the claim.

As far as I know, none of the big/listed US companies categorizes their employees based on current nationality or country of origin.

There are many Indian who were/are great learner in the area of profession/expertise they have worked in. But, I don’t see any name in last 50 years who did something that changed course of Humanity or something new in Engg. / Mathematics / Physics / Medicine etc.

What happend to all the BRAIN POWER?

We are very good with learning/repeating process, but we fail miserably on coming up with any new “Idea”.

Agreed with New-Yorker.... None of the companies produce any categorised reports of employees on Nationality basis....

Secondly If we admit that this data is correct, How can Sam call them Fools just because they didn't work for india.... Infact because of lack of opportunities lots of talent in India remains Un-Noticed... It's also possible that if these people have remained in india, they might never get noticed....

I too would like to travel each n every country around the globe, but for residential purpose.... India would remain my first choice forever..
