i think the bill passed by govt in favour of reservations is motivated by political motives. infact the govt should dare to give scholarships to the students who have the attitude but not money to persue their higher studies without regard to their caste. its like divide n play. we need to provide food to hungry, clothing to poor who cant afford much and education to all whether he/ she is GC/ OBC/ SC/ ST. we all need to work in direction. providing anything on basis of caste will increase disparity into our nation.

i feel the government should support but the poor and not a particular caste. after all we all deserve the fundamental right to equality.

what you all think friends?

thanks nirbhay.. i think we all are supporting a wrong govt. it should have tackled the issue with wisdom. its a senstive issue. i believe it wont help us move farword but will push india back to centuries.

on one side we are approaching global markets, on other side we are making categories among ourselves.

Very well said Ana.... but what the common man do.... All the political parties are in favour of reservation.... students from Delhi have called for a strike today.... people in our country are busy in earning their bread & butter & nobody seems much interested in resolving this issue.... We all know it very well that reservation is against the Fundamental Right of Equallity.... but still no steps are being taken against it....
Politicians are not concerned abt. the betterment of their nation... they just dont' want to loose their seat...
I dont' think mere discussions will bring any change..... Puzzled !

A mail By AIIMS STUDENT

Dear friends please spend sometime to read this.U can
make a difference.
As u all guysknow that there have beeen lot of
protests going on against the raiseinreservations. All
of us stuggle for months and years to make our
dreamscome true; No body in the government is bothered
about that. This newpolicyof govt ll be a major road
block in the development of our nation andcreationof a
caste free society. I want to share some developments
occurringherewith respect to this issue.

Abt 2 weeks backthe Students Union ( SU ) of AIIMS
( UGs and Interns ) started theprotests.they held
peaceful march. Their main demand was to meet Honbl.
ArjunSinghand to express their concern regarding the
hike in reservations. Whattheygot in return. Water
canons, tear gas shells and Lathis. Some of
theinternswho were beaten were my friends and i could
see their injury marks.Worse, some were girls. Sad isnt
it ? Well next few days due to their constantstruggle
they could get to meet Dr Arjun Singh. No positive
responsewasobtained. He however promised that before
sending the bill to cabinet,he would inform the SU.
The students continued to boycott theirclasses.Other
medical colleges of delhi also joined. We Resident
Doctors ofAIIMShowever were not actively
participating. We wore black badges andattendedfew
rallies.

12 th May sawa new beginning. Our medical students
were brutally assaulted by Delhipolice. Injured were
brought to AIIMS. Fracturehand bone, head injury,
blunt trauma abdomen with intra-abdominal bleed;> 300
students were manhandled including girls, stuffed in
buses andtaken to police station. I remember the
dialogue from RDB. Thisincident will prove to be a
final nail in coffin for our Congress Govt.At around 3
pm the Resident Doctors Association ( RDA ) of
AIIMSannouncedan indefinite strike. All Junior
Residents ( Acad or Non-acad ) &SeniorResidents
boycotted. Protest rally was organized that day.

13 th may was theworst day in the history of our
Indian Independence and so calledDemocracy.Medical
Students of Mumbai were beaten like animals.
Infactanimalsalso are never treated like this. Every
body would have witness the brutalityof the Mumbai
Police.17 - 18 year old medical students were
beatenup. Future of our country treated like this? And
these are the samePoliceMen who come to our OPD and
ask for peferential treatment. Shame onthem. And listen
to what Bhujbal said on TV. I thought we need a real
RDBnow. This incident triggered the suppressed fire in
each and everyindividual. We at AIIMS went on
INDEFINITE HUNGER STRIKE from 14 th morningjoined by
medical students from MAMC Delhi, Lady Harding, RML
Hosp,RohtakMedical College . Slowly the fire spread to
diferent states of ourcountry. You know what happened
in Blore. Calcutta, Orissa, Chattisgarh,
Gujrat,Himachal Pradesh, Kerala boiled in protests.
Students of DelhiUniversity( BSc BCom...) also joined
the strike

The hunger strikein AIIMS continues. More than 100
students and residents aresittingin the heat since 14
th morning just on plain water. Believe me wesleptin
the open last night empty stomach. Its only when rain
startedpouringwe had go inside the audi and slept
there.

The IMA has announcedcomlete medical bandh today (
15 th may ). Doctors from all overdelhi have come to
AIIMS and are holding protests. IITs and IIMs
havejoinedthe strike. Even patients and their
attenders were of full supporttowardsthis cause. One
man said," My father is admitted in NS departmentand
is fighting for his life and death, but i declare that
i have noobjectionwith ur strike. I support ur
movement and the cause for which u refighting. Our
country needed this."

All of us know what is rightand what is wrong.
Having said that i feel that each one of us
shouldfollowour conscience. I ve written this message
because i felt there are manyof who might not be aware
of the exact situation. Irequest each one of u to
please forward this to all ur friends, Medicosor
Non-medicos. Everycommonman needs to be aware of the
injustice and should be involved in thiseffort.

This Movement willbe a revolution in our
independent country and will be the
mostsignificantevent after the British Rule. Itll be
the cause for the rewriting of Indian Constitution
where just andmeritorious people are not singled out
and put to taste the adversitiesand someone else
enjoys the benefit.

The government cannothide its inadequacies in
providing equal opportunities to the underpriviligedin
rural areas by increasing the reservations. They have
ruled thecountry for so many decades and if in this
time they are not able toprovideequalilty in primary
and secondary education for in dian citizens
theycannot mask their failure by providing
reservations at each and everylevel. Its ridiculous.
The whole issue of reservations was a political
gimmicof the present govt to garner votes.

Its time that thingsare not taken for granted by
any one. Let it be a senior ministerpoliceor anyone
else. Whole of our nation needs to get aware of the
amount ofhardwork and sacrifice we put to achieve our
dreams. We should notallowanyone to make a mockery of
our struggle in future.

Thank U Friends.

Dr Kiran,

Junior Resident,

Internal Medicine,

All India Institute Of MedicalSciences,
New Delhi

well ana god point you say that ..........if this type of programs run by their india citizrn to also open the eyes of politicians...........but question who comes first to do this about 45 crore peoples in india has no money no clothes even no house...............how can help only few people to solve this problrm............the main reason that whole country is not supporting that no body gives their helps by their hearts to the poors..........well im supporting the reservation but this type of programs run in india also the change of mind of peoples  those suporting reservation.......magar yaha likhne se aur ye kar dikhane mein bahoot antar hai......the question is not that ki log mostly caste ki wajhe se support kar rahe hai.............obc/sc/st..............ko in sab se ye khatra lagta hai ki unki suraksha........unki socially fir se backward ho jayege kaise change karogi is soch ko aur kaise nikalogi 60 crore logo ke darr ko.

I agree baat karne se nahi action karne se  baat banti hai.. the question you asked is who among 45 crore people will bell the cat.. right. thats is where the problem is. We had empowered our politicians like a big cats and wild wolfs n selves as poor mice. But let me tell you the power is in unity. power is in knowlegde not in ignoring what ever our leaders say. i agree OBC/ Sc/ St feel insecured so they want govt to support them. but do the support  should comes on the basis of caste or financial resources available.

Now one has to take a call whether one  want to be called first a doctor or first an SC/ St/ OBC.

I dont have any personal milace against my friends. also i am not supporting anti reservation because belong to general category. but because what heritage we are giving to our younger generation.. Sc/ ST/ OBC/ GC ...

we all had to correct our govt. definately the govt should come farword to uplift the society but is this the right way?Huh?

aaj tak to muje nahi batana para that i belong to general category .. or anyother caste  in yoindia forum. but today isnt the govt has raised a question on all of us as to decide which category do we belong to. its pethatic.

this way aren't we creating another outdated india(sub divided into four caste Sc/St/OBC/ BC) in each and every class room??

baat kaene se hi baat banti hai ... zamana baato ka hai ... laato ka nahi ... aap jitne baaten karenge utna hi kuch karne layek information aayegi =, samajh aayegi.

aacha laga kafi lambe time baad koi worth while thread dekh ke. Thanx ana.

In my opinion there should be reservations but based on merit not based on a section of community.
As there are millions of poor people in our country jo kabhi bhi aage nahi bad sakte agar unhe support na kiya jaye.
Lakin unhe support karne ka yah matlab nahi ki aap kise doosre kabil insane ka haq maar ke kisi aur ko de de.
Is liye the deserving candidate from the backward section of our country must get his place thru reservations.
And these reservations must  mean, for example :-
There is reservation for 2 ST candidates in IIMs. Now these two candidates must receive scholarship and must get priority for admission over the other candidates and must get place in college first. But if there is no candidate who meets a set slandered of entry the others must taken in.

thanks Tosha... i think i have just raised a common question.

You said reservations should be based upon merit... then where comes the question of reservation. i think govt should allot seats strictly on merit basis. then the students who are from weak back ground should be given scholarships.

those who have ability should pay, and those who dont have abilty to pay should be backed by govt.

i know in my pg too universities dont let the seats waste. so they used to give seats to candidates whose marks were too low to qualify even but tehy got the certificate in hand being an SC/St. some were who dont even know ABC properly were given seats in precious Post Graduation Programmes.

I said reservations should be based on merit.... and have expalined wt i ment... but i'll try and put some more words to it.

it is like priority must be given to ST/SCand other backward classes and their merit level can be reduces by say 5-10% but must not be completely biased reservations.

as even they need to come up for the sake of our economy. but if there are more deserving candidates outside the ST/SC and other BWC then their right must not be witheld

well ana unity is come between the all socity when the insecured people fells the secure himself........if this evil in face of insecurity with us then no one support . this protest again make india totally into devide face you seen that many places both side of people is ready to kill . we fell that you against us thats why you not supporting the reservation no one think that you figth for equility. bcoz jo jo sochna chata hai wo wahi sochta hai....aur sabhi yahi soch rahe hai you are against the people of this community thats why you against qouta......india is very badly devide in caste its not reduced in one month or in decade....for this need and run a protest against cast all over india.....must be change seen in india.otherwise  if govt is taken any action against the qouta civil war in india begins.........but i think the all colleage are divide and for reserved and unreserved colleage is run parllel........with this generals is secured their talent and merit and also we fell scured........then after we see who is best.

aur meine nahi kaha ki aap batao ki aap general cat ki ho kyunki yaha sirf 3 catagrie he hai........jo support kar rahi hai wo naturally general he hoga.......aur jo anti support hai wo sc/st/obc mein se hoga ye bilkul aisa he hai jaise hum kisis ka face se uska undar kya chal raha hai jaan lete hai........aur meine nahi kaha ki aap batao.

again say take action against the evil name unsecure.......you beat this all youth come with you.........but without this you run your program or protest........ its change into bloody protest ........bcoz ye ek tarah se pet pe lat marna hua.........aur aap tau samjh sakti hai......every action has equal reaction.

dont be afaraid by ny words we are in just disscussion ana.....hope you don't angry.
