बाढ़ की संभावनाएँ सामने हैं,
और नदियों के किनारे घर बने हैं ।

चीड़-वन में आँधियों की बात मत कर,
इन दरख्तों के बहुत नाज़ुक तने हैं ।

इस तरह टूटे हुए चेहरे नहीं हैं,
जिस तरह टूटे हुए ये आइने हैं ।

आपके क़ालीन देखेंगे किसी दिन,
इस समय तो पाँव कीचड़ में सने हैं ।

जिस तरह चाहो बजाओ इस सभा में,
हम नहीं हैं आदमी, हम झुनझुने हैं ।

अब तड़पती-सी ग़ज़ल कोई सुनाए,
हमसफ़र ऊँघे हुए हैं, अनमने हैं ।
