Nature’s Plight
In the fresh breezy dawn when the sky is ember, The nature rises from night’s slumber, I cup my palms merrily, To hold the shimmering lily.
The chirpy- chatty sparrow Gripped in helpless sorrow, Not in her gay mood; Her chicks are crying hoarse for food.
The morning breeze preens the green leaves And stares at me with chilly eyes. The grasses drenched in mist, Reckon, have to open my fist. To release the captive energy and light For trees to cook, birds to search food, nature’s plight. The ember belongs to all not only mine, Ashamed I obliged and freed the endearing sunshine.
When the nature puts on her dark garb For taking rest, nobody to disturb, The big night bulb lights in the sky I raise my hand and pluck the naughty spy.
The wise meditating owl opens its eyes, And whispers “Let the nocturnal roam till sunrise”. They hide in holes and burrows at daylight And come out for hunting in the night.
While they move around searching for food, The nocturnal insects whistle in the eerie wood. The night queen spreads its fragrance near n afar For luring insects to pollinate and drink it’s nectar.
Give and take is the rule of survival on this earth, We boost being greatest creature, but this moral is in dearth. Thus selfishness groped me, wanted the moon for myself, Felt ashamed and placed it back for all, on the sky shelf.
I stacked money from hither and thither, To lead a boisterous life for near and future; Never thought of those skinny bodies with their Tethered clothes bereft of food and shelter. The emaciated, crippled Somalian children in infertile land, Crawl in search of ants to eat with bowl in hand. Earth’s resources are for all, my god reprimanded me for utter greediness, Ashamed, I let my stack flow, as much I can for those in hard press.

This poem shows greediness and selfishness of human beings, though we are the greatest creature on this earth. First I held the sun for myself, next moon and then money and then getting the lesson that it is against nature’s rule of survival.
