Kis tarah, aur paas aauun mein:
Sirf apnaa tumhain banaauun mein?

Paas ho kar bhi, door hain itney:
Kis nidaa sey tumhain bulaauun mein?

Raat-din beyqaraar rahtaa hoon:
Kash, lamhey kaa chain paauun mein?

Dhoop hai teij, kaheen chhaanh naheen:
Abra ko, ab, kahaan sey laauun mein?

Dahra sey eik-doosrey key hain:
Kis tarah baarhaa bataauun mein?

Eik lamhey bhulaa naheen paataa:
Khoob kahtey ho, bhool jaauun mein?

Aamir-e-zehn*! Deedah-ae-tar** hoon:
Nazar, nazar sey, kyoun  milaauun mein?

Yeh, 'abd' kaa, ajeeb qissah hai:
Saaqiyah, kah, kisey sunaauun mein?

* hrudaya key swaamee, dimaag key maalik
** ashru-poorit nayan, ashk bhareen aankheyn
