A short but an inspirational story from the book 'The Alchemist'. I have put this story somehow in my own words...There was once a young boy that wanted to know the meaning of hapiness..He decided to visit the wisest man of the village who lived in the middle of the desert...Now because he is the 'wise' man, many many people have come to him to seek advice...The boy waits for over an hour and then he finally gets his turn...He then sits near the wise main and asks him 'whats hapiness???'...The wise man gives the boy a spoon with a few drops of oil and says 'go have a look at my palace...make sure you see every beautiful thing around but ensure that the oil drops don't fall...have a look for 2 hours'...The boy goes around to visit the hugeee and marvellous palace of the wise man...]
After 2 hours he comes back to the wise man...The oil drops are still there, he says to the wise man...The wise man asks him 'oh did u see everything [and he mentions a few luxurious things mentioned in the book which i don't remember]...The boy with an upset head down says 'the fact is I was concentrating on the oil drops and I didn't see anything...Well then you go back and have a look, says the wise man...The boy goes around again to visit the hugeee and marvellous palace of the wise man...
He returns after 2 hours...He tells the wise man 'ohh your palace is very very beautiful...I saw everything[and he mentions lots of things]...Then the wise man asks 'where are my oil drops??'...the fact was the boy had dropped them while looking at the marvels and beauty of the palace...So the wise man says 'Hapiness is "see every marvel/beauty of the world but never and ever forget the oil drops" '
Now its upto us to decide what the oil drops are...For me the oil drops mean religion,virtues,ethics...Humans always cross the path in their life forgetting there is only ONE path to heaven and on that path, the oil drops are never and ever dropped...
