Serial Killers !!!!:Inspirational Stories and real life Incidences.

I am watching a TV serial. It has four guys, all good friends of each other, and the serial revolves around their lives at Home and Workplace. Ofcourse, women are there, but they come on-screen only as and when required. And all are not always decked up for a wedding. The guys wear simple casuals at home and regular formals at work. The ladies also wear simple clothes at home, and don't care if the 'Bindi' is not matching. Ofcourse, jewellery is used only when the occasion demans, and before going to sleep the ladies remove all their makeup and ornaments and change into plain, cotton, nightclothes. And since the ladies hardly ever meet each other except on friendly reunions, the question of feuds and fights simply doesn't arise. They all love each other, and jealousy is all but non-existent. Sounds too good to believe? Well... you guessed it right; I saw this serial only in my Dreams..!!

The reality is never that good. Switch on a TV set, and start surfing through the channels. Each channel has its own set of viewers. There are news watchers, animal lovers, sport-buffs and music crazy people, each sticking to their own channels. But a major section of crowd watches the daily soaps, and their patience really surprises me. Day after day, month after month and year after year, they stick to the madness going on in these soaps, and do not really care what's going on inside their own homes. Those not waching these serials are really lucky (I am one of them!)for they are spared a lot of nonsense and torture.

I had once dared to watch the first serial that came across after switching on the TV. Atonce, a large face started back at me, with oodles of make-up dripping from the screen. The jewellery, the designer saree, the fancy serpentine bindi, everything was perfectly matching, and for 15 minutes, the lady just kept looking straight ahead, thinking of a hideous plan to oust someone from the house. She had not yet spoken a single word (which made me think that the dialogue writer was not being adequately paid ) and the screen kept flashing black and white memories of her past (Probably the payemnt of other cast and crew was also over delayed resulting in their non-cooperation). So far, nothing had happned, and what followed was a commercial break. Thank God for these breaks. !!

Honestly, I should salute all those viewers who manage to endure all this stupidity for days together while I barely scraped out for half an hour. I keep getting nostalgic about the days when we all had but one channel to watch, and it provided with all the good entertainment that we needed. We all watched the same Hindi Songs in "Chitrahar', and the next day, we all hummed the same songs in school!!. We all watched the same serials, and we all discussed the same thing next day, with everybody knowing what the talk was about. But today, is a different picture, and ever time I watch the serials, I am convinced that these are not meant for us to Kill Time; rather they are there to Kill our very minds with their meaningless presentation.

Indeed these serials are Killers..!!
