As per my knowledge
There are Two "Mahkum" "Mahkoom" in urdu
(محکم (محکمی = Strong (Mahkum/i)
(محکوم (محکومی = Subject (Mahkoom/i)

कौन आजाद हुआ
किसके माथे से सियाही छुटी ?
मेरे सीने मे दर्द है महकुमी का
मादरे हिंद के चेहरे पे उदासी है वही
कौन आज़ाद हुआ ?
yahan aise lagta hai ki shayar ko dukh hai " mahkumi" ke liye? voh azadi ka criticism kar raha hai. voh jo kar raha hai uska dukh hai yaani na chaate hue jo vo kar raha hai? samaj nahin pa raha hoon? help!

Dear vkwd sorry! I have not much knowledge about poetry, but I tried. Please go through the below, and please confirm with someone who has the good knowledge of poetry.
Kaon azaad huwa (who got the freedom)
Kis ke mathe se ghulami ki siyahi chooti (who got rid of the signs of slavery)
Mere siney mein dard hai ab bhi mahkoomi ka (my heart still aches with the memories of slavery)
Madar-e-hind ke chehre pe udaasi hai wohi (the countenance of mother India is grim)

If anyone can clarify the above, please help...

sir,
your English rendering of the poem is in order for me. I have further googled and found that the word 'mahkumi' also means prisoner / convict and is derived from Turkish. and your reference to slavery in the earlier line identifies with the next line 'mahkumi'. the poet feels that despite the freedom , he is pained for still being a convict /prisoner /slave. although I could not find a poet/ master of Urdu for help , I am satisfied with your help. thanks.

mahkoomi = mah.koomi means subjection or under state of subjugation.
