ethernet not detected, Hardware problem 810 board rtl 8139

Hi..
I have a computer p3 800 with i810 mb.  The problem is realtek 8139 LAN card. I have windows 98 and running fine. But sometimes the card on it didn't get detected. ie. the  card is configured correctly but it sometimes when i start computer it get disappeared. I have to restart the computer again and again untill it again appears.
I change the slot of card! cleaned the slots. But nothing..
I am not getting it that why this problem is there ?

Any one has any idea and help ??

Man..
Your Lan card got defected.. Now it is time for it to be replaced but i  suggest one thing is that use that card in another computer if you are having other and still it shows same problem so time to replace.
Usually such problem occures due to mishandling.. so make sure it is fitted and is not loose..

As riicky said use that land card in another computer if you are having the same problem then immediately replace that card

Even after that u experiences the same problem then i wanna know that r u  using ur Lan card for Cable Net ?

If yes,  then i m sure that ur problem is due to of IP confliction. If you are on network and using ur lan card for Internet throgh cable  then chances of  IP confliction are very high and in that case lan card automatically disables itself cuz in a network  2 Lan cards cant  have the same IP Address.So u should ask ur unique IP address from ur Network Administrator
