You can have two types of courses..
a) Diploma
b) Degree

Well, Software engineering is itself a vast topic. Just consult any of good institution near you and they will explain better, you can get diploma from NIIT etc. or get degree from a good university.

If ur interested in software field then its better if u opt for BE(bachelor's in Engineering) from the reputed university.U can go for Diploma in Computer Science but it will not be so useful to u though diploma people have more practical knowledge than BE graduates because most of the companies prefer BE graduates.There is no specialization as such in BE but u wil be taught tha basic programing languages like C,C++,Java,RDBMS(Relational database management ie oracle.Os,Data structure etc etc...u wil be given an overview of complete sottware praograming..and u wil be learning something about electronics also which is the base for all engineering group.
the subject wat i have mentioned above wil be there in any university.if u want to no more about this just mail jme wit ur quieries
