This competition again like previous one, we are giving you an introduction for the Nazm so that participants can also get to know about Nazm. More than a competition, this is a learning experience for us. Through this Yoindia is trying to spread knowledge about urdu poetry . So the details for the competition follows after the Introduction to Nazm.
What is Nazm - Nazm kya hai - An Introduction
Nazm ke lughavi maa'ni hain "Ladi" Ya pirona.(Its meaning literally means a series / chain). Nazm ko aik hee mazmoon (subject) per bayaan kiyaa jaataa hai. is kaa har shai'r ek doosre se (jude hua )wabasta hotaa hai aur sab mil kar aik hi mazmoon (subject) bayaan karte hain aur nazm ka aik hi unwaan hotaa hai.
Nazm mein Maqte kee koi pabandee nahin hotee. Yanee akhir main aap jo takhaloos aakhri shair mein likhte hain wo zaruri nahi hai.
Nazm mein tasalsul yaani ki "Flow" bahut zaroori hai ,aur padhne wale ko bandhe rakhna nazm ke behtareen hoone khususiyat hai.
Ismain bahr ya radeef o qaifiye ke koi khaas ahmiyat nahin hai.
Aaj ke daur ki nazm khalis taur pe aazad nazm hai yaani nazm koi ek bandha hua pattern nahi hai, zyadatar aaj ke shayar Azaad Nazm ya dusre lafzon main wo nazm ka pattern jo aapko bandhe rakhe, jisme tasalsul (flow) how per koi definitive pattern nahi hai. Nazm ki tashreeh aaj ke daur mein kerna zara mushkil hai her jogadri ka apna aik nuktaiye nazer hai jis ko woh dosre per thoopne ki Nakaam koshish karta hai.
Doosre bhi aqsaam hain jinmein loog misron ko aik doosre ke humwazan aur mumkinah qafiye se humpalla kerte hain aur ziyadater her shair usi wazan ka ho zaroori nhain hai bas jo subject ya mazmoon hai uska tasalsul na tute. Yaani kuch log aise bhi hai jo nazm main kaafiya aur sher ko balance rakhte hai kuch hadd tak. Yaani unki nazm ke pehle 2 se 4 misre humpalla aur humwazan hote hain leekin jadeed yaani aajkal iss qavaied ko tood diya gaya hai aur her shayar ka nazm kehne ka apna andaaz hai.
Yahan ek Nazm aapki sahuliyat ke liye pesh hai joki mahshoor urdu shayar Iftikaar Arif ne likhi hai.

Further Explanation of Nazm
To explain more, Nazm in Urdu language is basically a form of poetry that has a smooth flow of rhyme and rhythm and is written in verses. These verses are usually in continuity to maintain a flow of thought, unlike Ghazals, in which verses have their independent meaning and can portray feelings independently without depending on the next of verses.
The pattern of writing ghazal is changed in new world. The Nazm in Modern world is more liberal. In older times, the Nazm used to have some rythm and some sort of pattern which was visible in writing of most of the poet of that time. But Now a Nazm means a poetry which is on single subject but without any boundation and or restriction.
Several poets have developed their own style and they tend to follow their own pattern. Hence, there is no definitive guide to explain a Nazm. If you have something to write and you are ble to maintain a poetic flow in it then its a Nazm in modern world. Other than Ghazal, Nazm is one of the most famous and widely used form of Urdu Poetry.
You can understand a Nazm by reading famous poet and if you want to write then try to follow a poetic pattern in it and read it yourself and if you find it in flow and you are able to read it without any break then its your Nazm. Remember, a Nazm has no boundation of Maqta and not even Radeef Kafiya but you can use it on your wish and requirements.
This sum up my explanation for Nazm, however if you have any question or doubt then feel free to ask. If any suggestion then would like to add it here. Now lets move to the rules.
Some Rules Regarding Submission1. Only one Nazm per member is allowed.
2. You can only submit a new fresh Nazm, old posts or already published Nazms are not allowed.
3. If there is any mistake (u think ) there , then can be corrected , however, you can not change your submitted Nazm with another one.
4. Nazm main kam se kam 5 misre hona zaroori hain ie. roughly should have 5 stanzas at minimum, for maximum there is no limit.
5. Only submit your original Nazm, if you submit Nazm of any other poet then you will be disqualified.
6. Its a request to read Introduction to Nazm so that you can submit a Quality Nazm, submissions those are not in proper format will be disqualified.
7. There is no definitive subject, you can submit Nazm on any topic.
Winners and Prizes1. Judges will select top 3 Nazm.
2. Winners will be given certification and there will be some prizes too (we are still working on them).
3. Decision of the Judges will be the last decision, no one can challenge it.
