Riddle
There are 3 switches downstairs, each corresponding to one of the light bulbs upstairs. How can you figure out which light switch goes to which light bulb by only making 1 trip upstairs?

Turn switch 1 on for 5-10min then turn off,

Turn switch 2 on, and go up stairs

Light 1 will be off and warm
Light 2 will be on

and light 3 corresponding to switch 3 will be off and cold

All the switches are for one light bulb

okay heres one more...


three people have lunch at a restraunt and the bill comes to $30 (cheap lunch right? but back on topic ).

Each of the men agree to split the bill fairly so it's $10 each.

The waitress later realises she made a mistake and the meal cost $25 not $30.

She returns with $5 for the men but is unsure how to split it, so she gives each man $1 and they agree to leave her a $2 tip.

Each of the men have now paid $9 as they were refunded $1 each and the waitress has $2..

9 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 29...

The following night two friends check into the same motel. Once again the clerk charges them $30, or $15 per person. After the clerk remembers the total rate is only $25 he sends the waitress upstairs with five $1 bills to pay the two friends back. The waitress knows she got away with larceny once so she tries it again. But this time she pockets $3 and returns $2 to the hotel guests ($1 per guest). So each of the two guests got $1 back from their original $15. Therefore each paid $14 which is a total payment of $28 for the room. Now the waitress has $3, the guests paid $28, for a total of $31....THERE'S THE MISSING DOLLAR!!!!

Total payment is only 30-5=25+3=28$ both paid 14 each....so no doller is excess.......
